The increase in subscription Microsoft 365 caught you by surprise but you don’t want to think about an alternative for Office? If you don’t need the features related to Copilot, know that there is a way to save money.
If in fact from January 16th the Redmond house increased the cost of Microsoft 365 Of 3 euros per month or 30 euros the year from the next charge, for existing subscribers it is possible to return to previous prices.
How is this possible? By subscribing now to Microsoft 365 Personal options are proposed from 10 euros per month or 99 euros per year, while the Family plan provides for a payment of 13 euros per month or 129 euros the year. And the same goes for existing subscribers: the new prices will be applied upon renewal.
Microsoft justified the increase with the implementation of AI features, but perhaps not everyone is interested. A Microsoft 365 subscriber has the option to change this situation and, at least for the moment, return to Microsoft 365 Classic (Personal or Family) with the old billing system (from 69 or 99 euros per year).
Without Copilot.
To make the change, just go to the page Services & subscriptionssign in with your Microsoft account and locate yours subscription.
Now let’s click on Manage at the top right and select the item Cancel subscription. A new screen will open, where we can choose the subscription without Copilot, which Microsoft calls here Standard and not Classic.
As you can see, the prices are 69 euros per year (7 euros per month) for the Personal plan and 99 euros per year (10 euros per month) for the Family plan. Let’s click on Change plan under the option of our choice and we will have activated the old subscription.
The procedure is actually a fake makeup: it’s the same Microsoft a suggest itwarning that it will be available “for a limited period of time“. This means that the plans Standard (Classic) will not be available for a long time.
In any case, it definitely is hidden: Microsoft is aware that not everyone is interested in Copilot but nevertheless wants to push its adoption.
Furthermore, we confirm that this procedure also applies to i new customers: just activate the free trial of a month and then change plan to switch to the old billing. However, it does not apply to plans subscribed through third parties.
