iOS 18.2 and macOS 15.2: all the news of the update with AI and app improvements

Apple will update today iOS at 18.2 And macOS at 15.2. They are minor but rather important updates, with a changelog full of new features, which in Italy, in part, we will only be able to experience in the coming months. Here’s what you need to know.

iOS 18.2

  1. Apple Intelligence:

    • Genmoji: Creating custom emojis.
    • Image Playground: Generation of images based on descriptions and concepts.
    • ChatGPT integrated into Siri: Access AI answers without needing an OpenAI account.
  2. Visual Intelligence (iPhone 16):

    • Identify objects and information in real time through the camera.
  3. General improvements:

    • New “Defaults” section in Settings.
    • Sharing the location of objects via the “Find My” app.
    • Safari improvements (HTTPS priority, download live activity).
  4. App updates:

    • Mail: Automatic email categorization.
    • Photo: Improved navigation and video options.
    • Voice Memos: Layered recordings and integration with Logic Pro.
    • Podcasts and Music: Advanced search and personalized suggestions.

The update will be available in the settings below Settings -> General -> Software Update and it also includes bug fixes and security improvements, as well as some other minor new features that we haven’t mentioned so as not to make the changelog cumbersome.

In any case, you can read it in full immediately before updating.

Before April 2025 Apple Intelligence will not be available in Italy, so that part is completely excluded for us, at least for now.

macOS 15.2

  1. Apple Intelligence:

    • Image Playground: A new app to create original images.
    • ChatGPT integration: Now available with Siri and for composing custom texts.
    • AI text rewriting: Ability to suggest specific rewrites.
  2. Usability improvements:

    • Weather in the menu bar.
    • Advanced controls for connecting to external displays with a “presenter preview” feature.
  3. Improved apps:

    • Where: Sharing the location of objects with third parties, including partners such as airlines.
    • Safari and Photos: Updates for navigation and content management.
    • Music and TV: Improved search with natural language.
  4. Compatibility:

    • Available for all macOS Sequoia compatible devices.
    • Some AI features require Mac with chip M1 or later.

Compared to iOS 18.2, macOS is a slightly smaller update, which lacks some new features available on the iPhone, such as Genmoji and the new Mail interface.

Likewise, the Apple Intelligence part it doesn’t concern usunless you put the operating system in English (but as we have already seen in the review of the MacBook Pro M4 it is not of much use anyway).
